Te Ora O Manukau provides its members the opportunity to work collectively to explore opportunities, collaborate and strategically influence issues that affect Maaori and all communities within South Auckland. As a network, we have key insights about Maori communities based on our knowledge, reach and experience to within a kaupapa maaori model. In our commitment to whaanau, we will work to strategically influence the opportunities building into the future.
In 2019, in partnership with Auckland Council we lead engagement across South Auckland for Maaori Communities for the Water Strategy and Climate Change. As a result of our mahi and in partnership with Te Kaha O Te Rangatahi, these consultations were the highest number of submissions by māori in the history of Auckland Council rising from 6% in 2016 to 18% of all submission for the Water Strategy and 27% for Climate Change. This was done through a series of wananga with Matua Rereata, Rikki Solomon and Tuhi Stationery and events by Te Kaha O Te Rangatahi.
